Conveniently located in Croydon, Chestnut Lodge offers easy access to the vibrant town centre, which is rich in culture and home to a wide selection of shops, diverse restaurants offering a variety of cuisines, and numerous places of worship. This area is also known for its local landmarks, including the historic Croydon clocktower, the museum and the beautiful Wandle Park – all contributing to the community’s unique character and charm

Excellent 24-hour transport links make travel simple, with the nearest train station just a 12-minute walk away, providing direct connections to both central and East London. For the convenience of friends and family, visitor parking is also available on-site.

This specialist care home with nursing provides a safe, comfortable environment for up to 42 male service users. It caters to adult males with physical health conditions, mental health needs, and neurological or neurocognitive disorders. Some service users may present with complex needs, a forensic history, and may be subject to Ministry of Justice restrictions.

Our care is rooted in a person-centred approach, supporting individuals with complex and challenging behaviours, who may require nursing care. We offer tailored support for those who may struggle with information processing, daily living tasks, or independent community living – always within the least restrictive environment possible.

The service is divided into three units:

Aspen – Ground floor – 12 beds
Redwood – first floor – 15 beds
Maple – second floor – 15 beds

Chestnut Lodge is a purpose-built facility offering modern, accessible amenities. Each floor includes a communal kitchenette, lounges, dining room and wet room with disabled access. All bedrooms are bright, spacious, most coming with en-suite facilities. Residents also enjoy easy access to a communal garden, offering a calm and relaxing space for recreation. The home has a state-of-the-art fish tank and shark tank, for that extra added sensory enjoyment.

We provide 24-hour nursing support, offering a wide range of healthcare services tailored to meet individual needs. Our experienced team is trained to deliver high quality clinical care including but not limited to; PEG care, catheter care, colostomy management, pain management including support related to palliative care, tissue viability and wound care.

Referrals to Chestnut Lodge typically originate from general hospitals, mental health hospitals, neuro-rehabilitation centres, older adult mental health services, or community care providers. We are well-equipped to support individuals whose previous placements may have broken down due to complex or challenging behaviours.

INCLUSION CRITERIA

Adults 18+
May have a range of complex physical health needs.
May have physical disabilities.
May have a mental diagnosis.
May have a diagnosis of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI).
May present with a variety neurological disorders such as Dementia, Huntington’s, Korsakoff’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
May have risks requiring a more robust community placement.
May have a forensic or significant risk history.
May be informal, subject to DoLS, conditional discharges, CTO’s or on license as directed by the parole board.
Complex needs / challenging behaviours.
