BALLATER HOUSE

Ballater House is in Chipstead, Coulsdon, in a leafy residential road which is in keeping with the residential area and in a large, detached house catering for 16 male service users. The home is just a short walk from the local shops and offers excellent transport links.

Coulsdon South train station is just 10 minutes’ drive making it easily accessible to visit Croydon Brighton and London. There are numerous parks within walking distance. The town boasts a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. There are numerous places of worship throughout the town. The service also offers visitor parking.

This specialist care home with nursing provides a safe, comfortable environment for up to 16 male service users. It caters to adult males with learning disabilities, mental health needs and challenging behaviours. Some service users may present with complex needs, a forensic history, and may be subject to CTOs

At Ballater House we focus on supporting individuals with complex and challenging behaviours who may require nursing care. Our approach is centred on providing assistance for those who may struggle with information processing, independent functioning in the community, and need extra support with daily living tasks, all within the least restrictive environment

The service is divided into three units:

Mercury 5 beds
Saturn 4 beds
Pluto 7 beds

The Home is situated in a residential road and keeping with the area we are a large, detached residence which is designed to provide modern amenities for all our service users. Each unit features a communal kitchen, lounge, dining room, and a walk-in shower. The bedrooms are bright, spacious and fully equipped with a number having en-suite facilities. Additionally, each unit provides easy access to 2 communal gardens for all residents.

Our service is equipped to support individuals who are subject, Community Treatment Orders (CTOs), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS),

As a care home with 24-hour nursing support, we cater to a variety of health needs, catheter care, diabetes or other complex care and colostomy management, pain management related to palliative care, and tissue viability care. Other complex need predominantly learning disability as a primary diagnosis. Referrals typically come from, mental health hospitals, neuro-rehabilitation centres, or community services where placements have broken down due to challenging behaviours. We also provide bespoke 1-1 support if required.

A minibus is available for activities in the community as well as trips out to Brighton and London as well as activities in the local area. We have an activity coordinator who plans meaningful activities for individuals of their choice.
